Most of us try to fix our well-being on the plate — and a lot of the time, the plate was never the problem. So before you change a single thing about how you eat, four honest questions about the rest of your life. Answer them for yourself. Nobody sees this but you.

Does your body actually move — not the perfect workout, just move? Walking, the stairs, the dog, the floor with your kids?

Notice which one you flinched at. Not the worst score — there's no score. The one your eye slid past, or the one you were quick to explain away. That's usually the hungry one.
A green smoothie can't fix any of these. That's not bad news — it's the most useful thing this book can tell you. The question was never what should I eat? It was which of these have I been feeding with food?
